Tuesday’s Meeting: A Huge Success!
We are thrilled to share that this Tuesday’s meeting saw a fantastic turnout! A big thank you to everyone who attended and made the event so special. Your presence and enthusiasm truly make our community gatherings memorable.
As always, the highlight of the evening was the incredible meal prepared by our outstanding chef, Barry. This week, Barry treated us to two mouthwatering dishes: Braised Steak and Guinness and Steak and Kidney Pie, both beautifully topped with a golden puff pastry crust. The flavors were absolutely divine, and the meal was enjoyed by all.
On behalf of everyone, we’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Barry for his dedication, talent, and the love he puts into every dish. We would appreciate it if more members having lunch could help out with tidying up, packing the dishwasher and washing the pots and pans, as there is no cleaner to perform this duty and it is unfair to expect the same person to do this each week.
Dust Extraction Update: A Cleaner, Safer Workshop
We’re making great strides toward improving air quality and creating a more pleasant working environment in the workshop. Here’s the latest update on our efforts:
Main Dust Extraction System:
Robin is still hard at work on the main dust extraction system. We appreciate his dedication and look forward to seeing the results of his efforts.
Air Scrubbers Grant Application:
In addition to the main system, Bob is applying for a grant to install Air Scrubbers. These devices will help remove floating dust from the room, further enhancing air quality and making the workshop a healthier and more comfortable space for everyone.
Combined, the new extraction system and air scrubbers will significantly improve the workshop environment, making it a more enjoyable place to work and create. Let’s wish Bob the best of luck with the grant application.
Have a Great Weekend Everyone
Laser Room Update: Air Conditioning Installation
We’re excited to announce that the installation of the new air conditioning system in the laser room will take place Thursday 13th. This upgrade will ensure a more comfortable and efficient working environment for everyone.
However, please note that the laser will be out of use until the following week. During this time, we will be re-setting up all the equipment and performing a thorough calibration to ensure everything is running smoothly for a fresh start. If you have any engraving projects or ideas, now is the time to put them on paper to present to me when we are up and running.
Men’s Shed Cluster Meeting
We’re pleased to share that our Men’s Shed has been invited to attend the Men’s Shed Cluster Meeting on 4th March in Ballina. This is a fantastic opportunity for our committee and members to connect with other sheds, share ideas, and learn from one another.
What to Expect:
Several committee members and participants will be attending, and we encourage anyone interested to join us. These meetings play a vital role in shaping what our Men’s Shed is and can become. If you wish to attend, please notify Bob via email.
"Trapped!" is a captivating short story that masterfully intertwines humor, suspense, and social commentary. The narrative follows Mr. Smith and Miss Jones, two teachers on a school excursion, who find themselves unexpectedly lost in a cave with their students. The author skillfully balances light-hearted banter between the characters with the escalating tension of their predicament.

In communities around Australia, Men's Sheds have become vital hubs for camaraderie, skill-sharing, and community service. These communal spaces provide a haven for individuals to work on personal projects, but they also serve a greater purpose – giving back to the community through various initiatives.
At the heart of every Men's Shed is a diverse group of individuals, each with their own unique skills and talents. Whether it's woodworking, metalworking, gardening, or any other craft, members come together to pursue their passions and hone their skills in a supportive environment.
However, beyond the individual pursuits, Men's Sheds also engage in projects that benefit the wider community. These projects range from small-scale initiatives to large-scale community endeavors, all aimed at making a positive impact on the lives of others.
One of the core principles of Men's Sheds is their commitment to community service. Members understand the importance of giving back and strive to be a positive asset to their neighbourhoods. This ethos is reflected in the various community projects undertaken by Men's Sheds across Australia.
From building Mud Kitchens for local childcare facilities, to constructing and refurbishing old furniture for members of the public, Men's Sheds contribute their time, skills, and resources to enhance public spaces and promote community well-being. These projects not only beautify the surroundings but also foster a sense of pride and ownership among community members.
Crucially, Men's Sheds operate on a non-profit basis. While they do not charge for their services, they may accept donations to support their project

Our community projects, funded by these donations, enable us to make a positive impact in the lives of others while giving back to the community that has supported us over the years.
We provide retired members with a healthy and engaging activity within a safe environment. The Men's Shed serves as more than just a workshop; it's a place for socializing, sharing experiences, and finding purpose in post-retirement years.
