Teddybear's Picnic
A Teddy Bear's Picnic was held at the Recreation Street Oval for Child Protection Week. A few of our loyal members pitched in to help cook up a storm. A big thanks to Robert Ryan, Michael Green, and Les Newnham for doing a fantastic job.
"A Shot in Time" presents a gritty yet darkly humorous tale of desperation and crime. The story follows Benny and Joey, two small-time crooks with an ill-fated plan to rob a local service station. The narrative unfolds with Benny's anxious perspective and Joey's increasingly erratic behavior, leading to a chaotic and ultimately violent confrontation. The story's strength lies in its vivid dialogue and unexpected twists, particularly the intervention of the no-nonsense Granny who saves the day with her shotgun. While Benny's transformation from a hapless criminal to a more stable, albeit still marginalized, member of society adds depth, the story’s real charm is its portrayal of flawed characters and the darkly comic resolution. Overall, it's a compelling read that blends crime, humor, and social commentary effectively.
The Tweed Heads Market, organized by the Tweed Heads Men's Shed last Sunday, was a resounding success. With the Swap Meet and Cooly Rocks On events happening simultaneously, the atmosphere was vibrant and lively. The weather contributed significantly, offering a beautiful sunny winter's day, perfect for an outdoor market.
Many new stalls were available for the public to explore, showcasing a variety of new offerings. The members of the Men's Shed did a fantastic job ensuring everything ran smoothly, further enhancing the experience for all attendees. The success of this market day has set high expectations for future events.
Here's hoping for more good weather on the weekends to continue the success of our ongoing markets.

In communities around Australia, Men's Sheds have become vital hubs for camaraderie, skill-sharing, and community service. These communal spaces provide a haven for individuals to work on personal projects, but they also serve a greater purpose – giving back to the community through various initiatives.
At the heart of every Men's Shed is a diverse group of individuals, each with their own unique skills and talents. Whether it's woodworking, metalworking, gardening, or any other craft, members come together to pursue their passions and hone their skills in a supportive environment.
However, beyond the individual pursuits, Men's Sheds also engage in projects that benefit the wider community. These projects range from small-scale initiatives to large-scale community endeavors, all aimed at making a positive impact on the lives of others.
One of the core principles of Men's Sheds is their commitment to community service. Members understand the importance of giving back and strive to be a positive asset to their neighbourhoods. This ethos is reflected in the various community projects undertaken by Men's Sheds across Australia.
From building Mud Kitchens for local childcare facilities, to constructing and refurbishing old furniture for members of the public, Men's Sheds contribute their time, skills, and resources to enhance public spaces and promote community well-being. These projects not only beautify the surroundings but also foster a sense of pride and ownership among community members.
Crucially, Men's Sheds operate on a non-profit basis. While they do not charge for their services, they may accept donations to support their project
